Public Transport and Taxi
There are several possible connections between Florence airport and the city centre. By taxi it takes about 15 minutes, while by bus (the Fly by Bus line of the company Sita/Ataf) it takes 20 minutes to get to Santa Maria Novella Central Station. The first bus from the station (Piazza Stazione) to the airport is at 05.00 hours and the last one at 00.30 hours. The first bus from the airport is at 05.30 hrs and the last one at 00.30 hrs, but if the last flight is delayed, the driver will wait until 01.00 hrs. The price of a taxi to and from the center is 20 Euro. On public holidays it is 22 Euro during daytime (06.00 to 22.00 hours). At night (22.00 to 06.00) it is 23 Euro. Curiosities Aeroporto Amerigo Vespucci
Since 1990, the airport is named after the Florence-based explorer Amerigo Vespucci, the man after whom America is named. The airport has only one runway. It was constructed in 1931, but was originally called Peretola, after the suburb of the Tuscan capital.
