The patron saint of Naples is San Gennaro and it is in his honor that the city’s main traditional event takes place. Most other annual events are also of a religous nature.

Easter
Napoli is a deeply religious city and in the period leading up to Easter there are numerous processions through the various districts of the city.
July 16
On July 16th, in honor of the Madonna del Carmine, there is a festival next to the Santa Maria del Carmine Church. The event includes a fireworks show.
August 15
August 15th is a holiday all over Italy, and Napoli is no exception. There are multiple parades in the city and almost everything is closed.
San Gennaro Festival (September 19)
The most important festival in Naples is the Festa di San Gennaro, in honor of the city’s patron saint. It takes place on September 19 and on that date all schools and other government buildings in Naples, as well as most stores, are closed.
