History Anzio Archaeological Museum
The museum occupies 9 rooms including protohistoric funerary equipment and anathema from Republican times. There are also sections devoted to undersea finds.
A fresco cycle dates from the 2nd century A.D., while the Museo Nazionale Romano has provided an alcove decorated with mosaics, probably dating back to the time of Emperor Nero.
Another room documents historical events during World War II.
Many of the archaeological objects found in Anzio have ended up in larger and better-known Italian museums. They can only be seen in the Museo Archeologico of Anzio itself on rare occasions, when there are special exhibitions.
