History and description

The castle complex was built in the 11th century and has been owned by the Ricasoli family since the 12th century.

Over the centuries, many disputes took place between the Florentines and the Sienese for the lordship of the castle.

In the 19th century, Baron Bettino Ricasoli had the castle rebuilt (in a more Gothic style) and it is now one of the most important large agricultural communities in Chianti.

What to see

In the Chapel of San Jacopo, you can admire two polyptychs from the Sienese and Florentine schools.
