The Church of Madonna di Galliera and San Filippo Neri is an ancient church in the center of Bologna. It is located on the Via Manzoni and was built in the first half of the 18th century. Its main attraction is the painting “Ecce Homo” by one of the Caracci brothers. The church is also known as Oratorio dei Filippini.

History and description
The Filippini Church was originally dedicated to the Madonna di Galliera and to Saint Filippo Neri. The facade is graced by a number of sculptures depicting saints.
The architect was Alfonso Torreggiani, who was assisted by the sculptor Angelo Pió and the painter Francesco Monti.
In 1866 the religious order was banned. The oratory was used as a barracks for a time. In 1900 the church was re-consecrated. The church was destroyed in World War II, but between 1997 and 1999 it was reconstructed with the use of old photographs,
The interior consists of a single nave. Centered on the side walls are cantories decorated with musical instruments. The dome is oval in shape. The apse is decorated with ornamental plaster work and with sculptures.
What to see
The altarpiece in the apse was the work of Francesco Monti. The painting opposite is by Ludovico Caracci.
