The two architects in charge of the project were Tomaso and Giovan Battista Meduna, who had already proved their worth with the restoration of the Teatro della Fenice in Venice.

The Teatro Dante Alighieri is built in a neo-classical, Venetian-looking style. It is characterized by a beautiful pronaos. A café and restaurant are located on either side of the atrium.

The curtain created by Giovanni Busato depicts the arrival of Theodoric the Great in the city.
