History and description
The present Santi Giocchino and Anna Church was built in 1760 to a design by Francesco Fiori and consecrated by Pope Pius VI Braschi in 1781. Not much remains of an earlier version begun in 1589.
In the 18th century, the nunnery of San Francesco di Paola was built next to the church. It was here that a gold and silver treasure said to have belonged to a Polish king was later found.
The facade only has one floor. There are four pillars and two windows on each side. Above the central door is another window and above that, first an arched, and then a triangular tympanum.
What to see
- The canvas above the main altar depicts the Madonna along with the two saints after whom the church is named.
