The Museo Provinciale della Vita Contadina “Diogene Penzi” (Provincial Museum of Peasant Life) is located in the town of San Vito al Tagliamento. The collection shows highlights the life of the farming community at work and at home.

History and description

The 11 room collection of this museum consists of objects and documents illustrating peasant life in the province of Pordenone, in northern Italy. Both the production system and the domestic life of the peasant society are shown.

Palazzo Altan

The museum is housed in a historical building known as Palazzo Altan. It used to be the Casa Bonisoli until it was acquired in the early 1600s by the Altan family.

What to see

The various sections deal with such topics as children’s toys, means of transportation, farm labor and the growth and/or processing of hay, wood, iron and various kinds of grain. Part of the exhibit is also devoted to the breeding of the silkworm.
