History and description
The Santa Croce neighborhood is among the first populated parts of Atessa. Consequently, the church is already quite old, as the original octagonal version dates back to the 7th century.
In the 14th century the nave was made rectangular and in the 17th century the church was expanded to three naves. The interior was also completely renovated.
The façade is characterized by a Gothic portal, a rose window and two buttresses.
What to see
Highlights are a gold mosaic cross with Christ in the center and an organ dating back to the 18th century.
