History and description
The Santa Maria dell’Immacolata all’Esquilino Church was built between 1896 and 1914 for the Padri Bigi. This Brotherhood, which was also known under the name Frati della Carità, was abolished in 1972.
The architects were Cursi en Cortese.
The dedication did not take place until 1942.
The architectural style is neo-Gothic. The facade is flanked by two relatively low bell-towers. The mosaic above the portal depicts the Immaculate Virgin dressed in a robe decorated with stars.
The interior consists of the tree naves, that are separated by columns.
The exterior of this initially salmon-colored church was painted white in 2022.
