The Santi Severino and Sossio Monastery is one of the oldest of its kind in Naples. One of the highlights of the complex, which also hosts the State Archives, is the Cappello Sanseverino.

History and description
The Sant Severino and Sossio Church, which boasts 374 m² of frecoes, was originally founded in the 10th century. Its current outlook is the result of multiple restorations, however.
The cupola was designed by Sigismondo Coccapani and constructed in 1561.
What to see
The frescoes were painted in the second half of the 17th century.
The wooden inlay work dates back to the 16th century. The elaborately designed walnut choir was the work of Benvenuto Tortelli and dates back to 1560.
Cosimo Fanzago (1591-1678) was an architect and scuptor who did most of his work in Naples, although he was originally born in Clusone in the province of Bergamo. He contributed the altar in the apse, in 1640.
