Piazza Inferiore
The Piazza Inferiore of is a rectangular square with colonnades on its long sides. It is a lovely place to sit quietly on a bench and admire the various bas-reliefs on display.
Piazza del Vescovado
The main attractions in the Piazza del Vescovado are the Santa Maria Maggiore Church and the Episcopal Palace. It was an important square in the life of St. Francis. It is here that the saint gave up his earthly possessions and it is also where he allowed himself to be taken shortly before his death.
