Street markets Naples

Naples is a relatively poor city, so it is no wonder that about 60 markets are held almost every day. The largest markets are the Poggioreale and the Fuorigrotta markets. A special mention obtains the various Christmas markets, where the famous traditional Christmas nativity scenes (presepi) are sold.

Apart from the famous Naples markets listed here, almost every district of the city has its own daily market, selling mostly fruits and vegetables, plus cheap clothes and household goods.

Poggioreale Market

The Poggioreale Market is the largest open-air market in Naples with 566 stalls, it is mainly about leather. Shoes, boots, belts, handbags etc. Every Friday, Sunday and Monday from 07:00 to 15:00.  (Address: Via Marino Di Caramanico, Napoli.).

Posillippo Market

The Posillippo Market takes place every Thursday from 08:00 to 14:00. This market, closed in August, specializes in clothing and household goods. Address: Viale Virgilio.

Porta Nolana Market

The most famous fish market in Naples is called Porta Nolana and is open every day from 07:00 to 13:30. This famous market is located south of Piazza Garibaldi.

Pignasecca Market

The Pignasecca Market is another famous market. Here fresh fruits, vegetables and fish are sold every day of the week (Via Portamedina and Via Pignasecca, 08:00 to 13:00).
