1. Duomo

Florence Cathedral is dedicated to Santa Maria dei Fiori. The bell tower by Giotto and the dome designed by Brunelleschi are world famous. A very special feature is that this church is built around another cathedral.


2. Uffizi

Unless you like to queue for hours, reservations are a must at the Galleria degli Uffizi. Botticelli‘s “Birth of Venus” is one of the most famous masterpieces in art history, but almost every Italian master’s work can be seen here.

The most beautiful view of Florence can be enjoyed from this square on a hill in the middle of the city. If you look in one direction you can see the Arno with all its picturesque bridges and in the other direction the famous dome of the Duomo towers above everything. The Giardino di Boboli is located behind Palazzo Pitti. Throughout the garden are statues of famous masters such as Giambologna and Vasari. Palazzo Vecchio is the former town hall of Florence. It is located in Piazza della Signoria. The palace is full of sculptures by Leonardo Da Vinci and Donatello and some of the walls of the palace were painted by Vasari.

The Battistero San Giovanni is one of the oldest buildings in Florence.
