History and description
It is not known to which branch of the Borgognone family the tower owes its name. However, what is known is the size of one Angelo Borgognone‘s foot, since this used to be the unit of length at some point in the city’s history. The exact length of his foot print is shown at the base of the tower.
At the time, the square was called Piazza San Silvestro.
Traces of various restorations are visible on the base facing the piazza, and also on several windows on the sides of the building.
Its latest reconstruction involved the parapet of the terrace at the top.
