The most important and internationally famous festivals in Venice are the annual carnival, the film festival and the Biennale. In addition, there are also some events that are celebrated only locally. Of these, the Festa del Redentore is the most famous.

Biennale
The Venice Biennale is an important international art event held from June to November. Since 1895 it has been held every two years. The main venue for the festival is the Arsenal.
Film festival
Although the Venice film festival is held annually, in years when the Biennale is held it is part of that event. Its first edition was in 1932, which makes it the world’s oldest movie festival. The best film is awarded the prestigious “Golden Lion”. The festival takes place on the island of Lido.
Carnival
Venice‘s carnival is one of the most famous ones in the entire world, not in the least because of the beautiful masks. The festival has been held at least since the 11th century. During the festivities it is almost impossible to find accommodation in the city.
Festa del Redentore
The Festa del Redentore is a traditional festival in Venice. It is held every year on the night between the 3rd Saturday and Sunday of the month of July. The festival is celebrated in memory of the construction of the Basilica of the Most Holy Redeemer.
