History and description

For the painter Raphael the main attraction was another one, however, since Via di Santa Dorotea, 20 was the house where La Fornarina lived. La Fornarina was the nickname of a baker’s daughter, who was her lover’s Raffaello‘s model for several paintings, the most famous one of which, obviously called La Fornarina, can be seen in the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Antica in the Palazzo Barberini.

It needs to be noted that there are two more streets in Rome that claim that Raphael‘s Fornarina used to live there, i.e. the Via del Cedro and the Via del Governo Vecchio.
