The museum occupies the second floor of the building, with the Salone dei Stemmi (“Hall of the Coats of Arms”) and the private apartments of the bishop himself. The papal prison in the basement of the building can also be visited.
One section of the museum is dedicated to the Via Francigena, the ancient pilgrimage route that ran from northern Italy to Rome. Acquapendente is located along this route.
