Palazzetto Longobardo Ascoli Piceno
The address of the Palace is Via Soderini, 26 – Ascoli Piceno.
History and description
The Palazzetto Longobardo has two floors and is located next to the Torre degli Ercolani.
It was built in the 13th century, which means that, despite its name, it has nothing to do with the Longobards, as they had already invaded the city in the 6th century.
The building has two facades. The main one is characterized by 4 biforas, while the second one (on the Via Solferini side) has only 1, although it is more richly decorated.
The entrance to the Palazzetto is only 1.77 meters high.
For 60 years, the Palazzetto Longobardo served as the youth hostel of the city. Unfortunately, it had to close its doors in 2018.
